Everything below is a straight answer with the exact taps. Most questions we get are one of five things: deleting an account, cancelling a subscription, getting Premium back after a reinstall, correcting an estimate, or working out where the daily scans went.

If yours is not here, email contact@getbiteline.com — a person answers it.

Contents

01Delete your account

You can do this yourself, in the app, without asking us and without explaining why.

  1. Open Biteline and go to Profile.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of that screen, to the Account section.
  3. Tap Delete my account.
  4. Confirm. The app signs you out immediately.

Your profile, meals, weight history and every meal photo stored for you are erased immediately — not scheduled, not queued. By the time the app signs you out, the photos are gone from our storage and the records are gone from our database. It cannot be undone, so if you want a copy of your data, ask for it before you delete. See the Privacy Policy for the full retention detail, including the one anonymised billing record we keep.

Two things to know first

  • Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. The subscription lives in your App Store or Google Play account, not in ours, so you have to cancel it there as well — see the two sections below. If you delete the account and forget to cancel, the store will keep charging you.
  • There is no export-then-delete flow yet. If you want a copy of your data before it goes, email contact@getbiteline.com from your account address first and we will send you a machine-readable export, then you can delete.

If you cannot get into the app

Email contact@getbiteline.com from the address on the account, with the subject Delete my account. We verify that the request comes from the account owner before we act on it, and we complete it within 30 days — the delay is the identity check, not the deletion itself, which is immediate once we run it.

02Cancel your subscription — iPhone and iPad

Subscriptions bought on iOS are managed by Apple. You cannot cancel them from inside Biteline, and neither can we.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap your name at the very top.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Tap Biteline.
  5. Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm. If you see Cancel Free Trial instead, that is the right button.

If Biteline is not in the list, the subscription was either bought on another Apple ID or on Android, or it has already been cancelled. Check apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions while signed in to the Apple ID that made the purchase.

Timing matters. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends, or Apple will already have taken the next payment. You keep Premium until the period you have paid for runs out.

03Cancel your subscription — Android

Subscriptions bought on Android are managed by Google Play.

  1. Open the Google Play Store app.
  2. Tap your profile picture, top right.
  3. Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
  4. Tap Biteline.
  5. Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.

On a computer, the same list is at play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions. Make sure you are signed in with the Google account that bought the subscription — this is the single most common reason it appears to be missing.

Timing matters. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Premium stays active until the paid period ends.

04Restore a purchase

Use this when you are Premium but the app is showing you the free tier — after reinstalling, after switching phones, or after signing back in.

  1. Make sure your device is signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account that bought the subscription. This is the cause about nine times out of ten.
  2. Make sure you are signed in to the same Biteline account — the entitlement is attached to your Biteline account, not just to the device.
  3. Open Profile → the Premium card, or open the upgrade screen.
  4. Tap Restore purchases.
  5. Wait a few seconds and let the app finish, then reopen it.

Still on the free tier?

  • Check the store really has an active subscription (the two sections above show where the list lives). An expired or refunded subscription cannot be restored.
  • If you subscribed on iOS and are now on Android — or the other way round — the purchase does not transfer between stores. Cancel one and subscribe on the platform you are actually using.
  • Store receipts can take a few minutes to reach us after a purchase. Force-close the app and reopen it once before assuming it is broken.

If none of that works, email contact@getbiteline.com with your Biteline account email and the store receipt or order number, and we will attach the entitlement by hand.

05Fix a wrong AI estimate

A photo cannot show the oil in the pan or what is under the sauce, so some estimates will be off. Every number is editable — nothing is locked once the scan comes back.

Before you log it

  1. Fix the portion first. Drag the grams slider. All the calories and macros rescale live, in proportion. Portion size is the single biggest source of error, so this one step fixes most bad results.
  2. Correct the dish name if it guessed wrong — tap the title and type the right one.
  3. Edit any macro directly. Tap the protein, carbs or fat row and type the real number, for example from a packet label.
  4. Then tap Add to diary.

After you have logged it

Open the meal from the Today list and edit it there — same fields, same slider — or delete it and log it again. Editing a meal does not use another AI scan.

Getting better results next time

  • Shoot from above, with the whole plate in frame.
  • Put something for scale in the shot — a fork, a hand, the edge of a standard plate.
  • Photograph components separately when they are stacked or buried.
  • Use the hint field for what the camera cannot see: “cooked in two tablespoons of olive oil”, “whole milk”, “large portion”.
  • Watch the confidence chip. A low confidence result is the app telling you it is guessing — check that one properly.
  • For packaged food, scan the barcode or search the food database instead. It is exact, instant, and does not spend a scan.

If a specific dish is consistently wrong, send us the photo and what it should have been. We use those to improve the prompt, and it is the most useful thing you can send us.

06Scans, limits and what stays free

Free accounts get 3 AI photo scans a day. Premium gets 20 a day. The counter resets at midnight in your device’s timezone, so if you travel, it follows you.

Manual logging is unlimited and always free — food search, barcode scanning, typing the numbers in yourself, your daily target, weight tracking and your whole history. The cap applies only to photo recognition, because each scan costs us money at our AI provider.

If a scan fails on our side, it does not count against your allowance — we roll the counter back automatically. If you think you have been charged a scan for a failure, tell us and we will check the log.

Your remaining scans for today are shown on the Today screen and on the Premium card in Profile.

07Sign-in problems

Forgotten password

  1. On the login screen, tap Forgot password.
  2. Enter your account email. We send a six-digit code.
  3. Enter the code, then choose a new password.

No email after a couple of minutes? Check spam, and check you used the address you actually signed up with. For privacy reasons the app shows the same confirmation whether or not an account exists, so a missing email usually means a different address was used.

Signed up with Apple or Google

If you used Sign in with Apple or Google, you have no Biteline password to reset — use the same button you used originally. If you used Apple’s Hide My Email, your account address is the private relay address Apple generated, not your personal one.

Signed out unexpectedly

Sessions expire, and the app signs you out rather than silently failing. Sign back in; nothing is lost — your diary lives on our server, not on the device.

08Reminders and notifications

Reminders are opt-in. Turn them on or off in Profile → Settings → Notifications.

If the toggle is on but nothing arrives, the system permission is probably off: check Settings → Notifications → Biteline on iOS, or Settings → Apps → Biteline → Notifications on Android. Battery-optimisation settings on some Android phones also delay or suppress reminders.

09Email us

If the answer is not here, write to contact@getbiteline.com. We are a small team, so we answer in order — usually within two working days.

To get a useful answer on the first reply, include:

  • The email address on your Biteline account.
  • Your device and OS version, for example iPhone 15, iOS 26.
  • The app version, shown at the bottom of Profile → Settings.
  • What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead.
  • A screenshot, if there is anything to see.
  • For a billing question: the store order number or receipt, and which store it came from.

Please do not send passwords. We will never ask you for one, and we cannot read yours.

Still stuck?

One email, one human, usually within two working days.
